Surgical Preparation

Pre-Operative Care Guide

A successful recovery begins before you even enter the operating room.

Preparing your body, environment, and support system in advance can help you feel more confident, comfortable, and prepared for the recovery process.

Why Preparation Matters

Thoughtful pre-operative preparation supports your body’s natural healing processes and helps you feel physically and emotionally ready for surgery.

Preparing ahead of time may help:

  • Reduce unnecessary stress on the body
  • Support lymphatic circulation and comfort
  • Improve overall readiness for post-operative recovery
  • Create a smoother transition into your recovery phase

This guide is intended to provide general wellness-focused preparation information only and does not replace instructions from your surgeon or medical provider.

Physical Preparation

The following are general wellness considerations commonly recommended prior to surgery. Always follow your surgeon’s specific instructions.

Logistical Preparation

Planning ahead can reduce stress and help ensure a safer recovery experience.

DO

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing on the day of surgery
  • Remove jewelry, makeup, and nail polish as instructed
  • Follow any cleansing or preparation instructions provided by your surgeon
  • Prioritize rest and stress management

DO NOT

  • Do NOT consume alcohol within the timeframe specified by your surgeon
  • Do NOT smoke or use nicotine products if restricted by your provider
  • Do NOT eat or drink if instructed to follow pre-surgical fasting guidelines
  • Do NOT take aspirin, blood thinners, or other restricted medications unless approved by your surgeon

Planning Ahead for Recovery

The recovery phase begins immediately after surgery. Many clients choose post-operative wellness services to support comfort, mobility, and overall recovery when approved by their surgeon.

Post-operative lymphatic wellness services are optional, non-medical support services and are provided only with appropriate clearance.

My Aspiration Spa provides non-medical wellness and aesthetic support services. We do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
